There are many barriers for women to access antenatal clinics and get to a health center on time to deliver safely. A lack of resources is common, together with gaps in information and connections, cultural stigmas, limited options for transport and a lack of support from partners continue to prevent pregnant women accessing antenatal health care. Tragically, many women and babies suffer and perish when complications are encountered in traditional home-births, and there is currently no way to prevent HIV from being transmitted from the mother to her child without intervention at a proper health facility.

Your monthly support will provide vital assistance to combat the barriers to maternal and child health in the villages, through raising the awareness and capacities of pregnant women (and their partners), systems of referral and follow-ups to antenatal clinics and support clubs, prevention of HIV transmission to babies, facilitation of transport to health facilities when women go into labour (even in the middle of the night), provision of birthing supplies for safe deliveries, and ongoing support to mothers and their children for a bright, healthy future.
