Positive Aid has invested much in the local community of Uranga - training its people in health care, raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and other issues, promoting safe births and so on. In a more tangible form, we recently supported the construction of a new building to house the project. It will be used for offices, meetings, trainings, and income generation and as a general hub for community health and development. Our vision is that the land and the building will provide a growing sense of permanency and motivation – a symbol and also the means for local people to engage more in their own health and development.

Despite challenges and delays working through a rainy season and now drought, the building is just about ready for the team to move in! Employment has been provided to local workers, and materials bought to boost the economy along the way. Management and volunteers in Uranga are now planning an opening ceremony to welcome the community.
