Jess and Mike visit the project

March saw Jess and Mike travel to Kenya to monitor Positive Aid’s project
With so much happening in our project, a trip to Kenya was essential. Committee members Jess Alvarez and Michael Young set off to represent Positive Aid with a whole range of objectives – an ambitious list that they shared and prioritised.
The two conducted extensive monitoring and checks on project activities, ensuring that the data we receive in monthly reports is of good quality and that funding is being used accountably. They helped to refine and improve on a few areas needing some extra attention and appreciated the management and volunteers for all of the great work going on.
They attended a local Board meeting to continue building relationships with key stakeholders, and share Positive Aid’s continuing expectations of commitment, quality and integrity in our partnership with those running the project on the ground.
Mike and Jess were able to visit a number of clients to gather information and verify how they have benefited through our efforts. The trip also provided the opportunity to work closely with management face to face, and work through many issues that they face on a daily basis. Such time spent is invaluable to provide support and motivation, and help to refine activities and the system in place. Many small changes were agreed on together, as well as some more major development plans illustrated in other news articles.
Thanks to both Mike and Jess for their valuable presence and inputs on the ground in Kenya!
