Positive Aid is building a development hub in Uranga
In 2014, Positive Aid purchased a small plot of land in Uranga, with the vision of making a kind of development ‘hub’ – a central place where we could build offices, host meetings, store our bicycles and farm equipment, and engage with the community. Since that time we have sunk a well to provide water, fenced the plot for security, and planted trees for shade and environmental sustainability. We have also raised funds for the construction of a four-room building. The first of four stages has already been completed: the foundations are down and the community is thrilled to see things taking shape. There is much support for our project, as it has helped so many local people, and the prospect of a development hub where even more activities can take place is exciting!
In line with our local approach to development, we have chosen a construction company from the area. This means jobs will be created, small businesses will be boosted and the community will be involved in the whole process. We look forward to works being completed towards the end of 2016. Huge thanks go to two of our Australian supporters (who wish to remain unnamed), for their generosity and vision in this project.
